ALEXNDARIA, La. — The Alexandria community is grieving the heartbreaking loss of 16-year-old Collin Lacaze, who died following a hit-and-run crash on March 31 along Eddie Williams Avenue near the intersection of Tulane Avenue. His sudden passing has left family, friends, classmates, and the wider community facing profound sorrow.
According to the Alexandria Police Department, Collin and another 16-year-old were standing on the shoulder of the roadway at approximately 11 p.m. when they were struck by a southbound vehicle that fled the scene. Both teenagers sustained serious injuries and were transported to a nearby medical facility. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Collin succumbed to his injuries. The second victim remains in critical condition, and her identity has not been disclosed as the investigation continues.
Collin was a student at Alexandria Senior High School, where he was known not only for his academic presence but also for his involvement in athletics. A member of the school’s baseball team, he was described by Coach Greg Briggs as a dedicated and valued teammate.
