The Morris County community is deeply saddened by the loss of Shawn Burckure, 52, who tragically passed away in a crash on Interstate 80 in Roxbury Township early Wednesday morning. A dedicated family member, loyal friend, and cherished community member, Shawn’s passing leaves a gap that will be profoundly felt by all who knew him.
According to the New Jersey State Police, the incident occurred around 4:20 a.m. while Shawn was driving his Jeep SUV east on I-80. For reasons still under investigation, he lost control of his vehicle. The Jeep veered off the road, went through an emergency U-turn area, and collided with a guardrail. After the initial impact, the vehicle crossed into the westbound lanes and was struck by a Freightliner tractor-trailer traveling in the opposite direction. Sadly, Shawn died at the scene. Thankfully, no other injuries were reported.
