The Washington County community is deeply mourning the loss of Harry Spruill, 42, and Whitney Spruill, 37, who tragically lost their lives in a collision on NC-32 on April 1. Their untimely passing has left family, friends, and neighbors devastated, as a familyās world was shattered in an instant of unimaginable sorrow.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 11:42 a.m. when Harry was driving north on NC-32 with two passengers in a Ford passenger car. The vehicle crossed the centerline and collided with a southbound, unoccupied freightliner grain truck. Sadly, both Harry and Whitney were pronounced dead at the scene.
In the midst of this heartbreaking tragedy, there is a small glimmer of hope: the second passenger, an infant, survived the crash and was transported to ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville with non-life-threatening injuries. Fortunately, the driver of the freightliner truck was unharmed.
