Portland Police Identify Victim, Release Suspect Details in Northeast Portland Shooting

Authorities in Portland, Oregon, have identified the victim of a fatal shooting and released images of a suspect connected to the incident near a Plaid Pantry convenience store in northeast Portland.

Officers were dispatched just before midnight to the area near Northeast 60th Avenue and Northeast Columbia Boulevard after a report of an unconscious individual. Upon arrival, they discovered a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim has been identified as 57-year-old Ernesto Castellanos, a Portland resident who was reportedly employed at the Plaid Pantry where the incident occurred.

Police have also shared images and a description of a suspect believed to be involved in the shooting. The individual is described as a white male in his 20s to 30s, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing around 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black knit beanie, a black sweatshirt with the phrase “Here to crash the party” printed on the front, blue jeans, and black shoes, and was reportedly armed with a handgun.

Authorities have warned that the suspect should be considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.

Anyone with information about the suspect’s identity or whereabouts is urged to call 911 immediately. Non-emergency tips can be submitted via email or by contacting the Portland Police Bureau while referencing the assigned case number.

The investigation remains ongoing as officials continue working to gather more information.
