The Raymond community is mourning the sudden and heartbreaking loss of 20-year-old Seth Hodgkins of Greenwood, who died Monday evening following a serious three-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle and two SUVs.
According to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, the collision occurred shortly before 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of Webbs Mills Road (Route 85) and Tarkiln Hill Road. Hodgkins was traveling north on his motorcycle when he collided with a southbound 2012 Toyota RAV4 driven by 23-year-old Seth Thayer of Raymond, who was attempting to make a left turn onto Tarkiln Hill Road.
After the initial impact, Hodgkins was thrown from his motorcycle and subsequently struck by a second vehicle, a 2015 GMC Terrain operated by 55-year-old Christopher Akers of Casco. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities confirmed that he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, and alcohol is not believed to have been a factor.
The investigation remains ongoing, led by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the Windham Police Department’s crash reconstruction team.

Fire Chief Blaquiere described him as more than a colleague, calling him a friend who was always ready to help others without hesitation. In a heartfelt tribute, the chief expressed deep sorrow over Hodgkins’ passing and extended condolences to his loved ones and fellow responders.
